WASHINGTON, D.C. — A deadly shooting Tuesday evening in Southeast D.C. left a young man dead as police work to identify the person responsible, authorities confirmed.
The fatal gunfire erupted around 6:40 p.m. on April 22 in the 2900 block of Knox Place, Southeast. Seventh District officers responding to the scene found an adult male unconscious and not breathing, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
DC Fire and EMS arrived shortly after and attempted lifesaving measures, but the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
The deceased has been identified as 22-year-old Dar’Juan McRoy of Southeast, D.C.
Investigation continues as reward offered for information
Police have not released details about a possible motive or suspect in the case. The investigation remains active, and detectives are asking for the public’s assistance in providing any information that may lead to an arrest.
The Metropolitan Police Department is offering a reward of up to $25,000 for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for homicides in the District.
