North Jersey woman who led violent drug trafficking gang arrested with 26 associates

TRENTON, NJ — Twenty-six individuals have been charged in connection with a violent open-air drug trafficking organization operating in Newark, state officials announced Tuesday, describing the arrests as a significant blow to a gang accused of using threats, firearms, and assault to control its territory.

The organization, known as the “Double ii – Queen Street Blood Gang,” was allegedly led by Rabiyah Sorey, 43, of Elizabeth, who now faces first-degree racketeering, conspiracy, weapons, assault, and drug charges. According to the New Jersey Office of the Attorney General, the group distributed heroin, fentanyl, and cocaine from the 200 block of North 9th Street in Newark, employing gang members and associates as enforcers and dealers.

Authorities allege that violence was central to the operation’s control tactics. In one case from April 2023, Sorey allegedly ordered a shooting during a road rage dispute. In another, she reportedly directed violence against a female associate who owed her drug proceeds. The gang is also accused of targeting rivals, issuing public threats, and deploying armed intimidation to secure dominance over its drug territory.

“This particular drug enterprise is charged with routinely engaging in violence for the sake of intimidating others, maintaining gang discipline, and controlling their territory,” said Attorney General Matthew J. Platkin.

Surveillance, weapons seizures, and public threats

Investigators detailed a series of incidents supporting the charges, including surveillance footage of assaults, audio recordings of gunshots, and a recovered arsenal of firearms. Authorities say the same handgun was used in multiple shootings connected to the gang and was later found in a vehicle tied to Double ii members. A semi-automatic rifle was also recovered during a U-Haul search linked to co-defendant Latif Holley.

The gang allegedly operated a narcotics production site from Sorey’s residence in Elizabeth, used to supply what the charging documents describe as the “Newark Set.” Members filled roles ranging from set supervisors to CDS distributors and armed security.

Director Theresa L. Hilton of the Division of Criminal Justice said the group ran a “brazen” and organized operation in plain view, bringing danger and violence to the Newark community.
