CHICAGO, IL — A 19-year-old man has been charged with multiple felonies after allegedly assaulting a woman and kidnapping a 1-month-old infant in a violent domestic incident on the city’s North Side, according to Chicago police.
Nickolas Watts, of the 12100 block of South Elizabeth Street, was arrested on April 18, 2025, at approximately 12:44 p.m. in the 1000 block of West Glenlake Avenue. Police say he was identified as the suspect who, about 20 minutes earlier, battered an 18-year-old woman and abducted the infant from the 1900 block of West Granville Avenue in the city’s 24th District.
Authorities said Watts also battered the infant during the incident. Both victims’ current conditions have not been released, and no additional details about the injuries were provided.
Watts faces multiple felony and misdemeanor charges
Watts is facing a total of five felony charges, including two counts of aggravated kidnapping—one involving a child under 13 with an intellectual disability and another involving inflicted harm. He is also charged with aggravated battery to a child under 13 causing great bodily harm, aggravated domestic battery, and child abduction for concealing a child as the father.
In addition, Watts faces two misdemeanor counts: domestic battery causing bodily harm and violation of an order of protection.
