WASHINGTON, D.C. — A 27-year-old man was arrested early Saturday morning after police caught him inside a Northwest D.C. establishment during an alleged burglary in progress.
Just after 3:15 a.m. on April 19, officers from the Third District responded to the 1400 block of T Street, Northwest, following a report of a break-in. Upon arrival, officers discovered the suspect had unlawfully entered the premises.
The individual, identified as Odinaka Uzoukwu of Southeast, D.C., was taken into custody at the scene without incident.
Police confirmed Uzoukwu has been charged with Burglary Two in connection with the incident. Authorities have not released the name of the establishment involved or disclosed whether anything was taken.
The case remains under investigation, and additional charges have not been announced.
Arrest made on scene
Officers were able to apprehend the suspect swiftly after responding to the in-progress call. The Metropolitan Police Department has not indicated whether surveillance footage contributed to the arrest.
