JACKSON TOWNSHIP, N.J. — A 28-year-old man from Toms River was killed Saturday evening after crashing his ATV on a remote dirt trail behind the Pine Barrens Golf Course, authorities said.

The incident occurred at approximately 6:18 p.m. at the Clayton Pits, a rural trail network located off South Hope Chapel Road, according to Jackson Township Police.

Investigators said the operator, identified as Brandon Orozco-Avila, was riding alone when he lost control of his ATV. The vehicle veered off the trail and into a heavily wooded area where it collided with several trees.

Orozco-Avila sustained fatal injuries in the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene, police confirmed.

Multiple agencies responded to the scene, including the Ocean County Sheriff’s Department Criminalistics Investigation Unit and the Ocean County Medical Examiner’s Office.

The crash remains under active investigation, and officials have asked the public for any information related to the incident.
