BRONX, N.Y. — The NYPD is searching for a man accused of attempting to rape a 70-year-old woman in broad daylight Friday in the Bronx, police said.

The incident occurred around 1 p.m. near Creston Avenue and East 184th Street, within the confines of the 46th Precinct. Authorities say the suspect approached the woman from behind and attempted to sexually assault her before fleeing on foot.

Police said no injuries were reported, and the woman did not require medical attention.

The suspect is described as a male, approximately 6 feet tall, weighing about 165 pounds, with long gray hair. He was last seen wearing a white shirt.

The NYPD released the details as part of a public appeal for help in identifying and locating the individual.

Police urge public to assist in suspect identification

Investigators have not released surveillance footage or additional identifying information at this time. Authorities continue to canvass the area for witnesses or leads.

“The individual fled on foot to parts unknown,” police said in a statement.
