CUMBERLAND, Md. — A 19-year-old woman was arrested Wednesday morning after allegedly refusing to leave a Cumberland business, then assaulting a police officer during her arrest.
Officers from the Cumberland Police Department responded around 7:00 a.m. to a trespassing complaint at a business in the 1600 block of E. Oldtown Road. When they arrived, they saw individuals running from the location. One was identified as Heidi Storm Townsend of Cumberland.
According to police, Townsend was uncooperative with officers on the scene. The business owner reported that Townsend had been asked several times to leave the premises and became argumentative, causing a disturbance before police arrived.
While being placed under arrest, Townsend allegedly resisted and attempted to pull away from officers. During transport, she kicked one officer multiple times in the leg. She was taken to the Allegany County Detention Center and held without bond following a hearing with a District Court Commissioner.
Townsend faces multiple charges including Trespass: Private Property, Disorderly Conduct, Second-Degree Assault, Disturbing the Peace, and Resisting Arrest.
