Quick Arrest Made in Northwest D.C. Robbery Attempt WASHINGTON, DC - Following a Northwest robbery attempt, D.C. Metro Police Department’s Third District detectives have swiftly apprehended a suspect. The incident occurred today around 2:53 PM, in the 1200 block of W Street, Northwest. The suspect, identified as 20-year-old Lenare Leath, Jr. of Northwest D.C., allegedly brandished a knife and pushed the victim to the ground in an attempt to steal their property. After a struggle, the suspect fled empty-handed but was quickly caught by responding officers. The victim sustained minor injuries and was taken to a local hospital. CUMBERLAND, Md. — A 19-year-old woman was arrested Wednesday morning after allegedly refusing to leave a Cumberland business, then assaulting a police officer during her arrest.

Officers from the Cumberland Police Department responded around 7:00 a.m. to a trespassing complaint at a business in the 1600 block of E. Oldtown Road. When they arrived, they saw individuals running from the location. One was identified as Heidi Storm Townsend of Cumberland.

According to police, Townsend was uncooperative with officers on the scene. The business owner reported that Townsend had been asked several times to leave the premises and became argumentative, causing a disturbance before police arrived.

While being placed under arrest, Townsend allegedly resisted and attempted to pull away from officers. During transport, she kicked one officer multiple times in the leg. She was taken to the Allegany County Detention Center and held without bond following a hearing with a District Court Commissioner.

Townsend faces multiple charges including Trespass: Private Property, Disorderly Conduct, Second-Degree Assault, Disturbing the Peace, and Resisting Arrest.
