BRONX, NY — A 20-year-old man was shot and killed Thursday afternoon in a broad daylight attack in the Bronx, police said.
Officers responded to a 911 call reporting an assault in progress around 1:33 p.m. at 3724 Bronxwood Avenue, within the 47th Precinct. When police arrived at the scene, they found a young man with gunshot wounds to the neck and chest.
Emergency medical personnel rushed the victim to NYC Health and Hospitals/Jacobi, where he was pronounced dead.
Authorities later identified the victim as Sorai King, 20, of 915 East 216th Street in the Bronx.
The circumstances surrounding the shooting remain under investigation. No arrests have been announced, and police have not released information on a possible suspect or motive.
The fatal shooting occurred in a residential area of the north Bronx, not far from East Gun Hill Road. Police cordoned off the area for several hours as detectives processed the scene and canvassed for witnesses.
