GOSHEN, N.Y. — A routine stop at a Hudson Valley gas station turned into a payday for one lucky Powerball player.
A third-prize-winning ticket worth $50,000 was sold at Goshen Exxon, located at 400 Greenwich Ave, for the Wednesday drawing. The win comes as part of the April 16 Powerball results.
The winning numbers were drawn Wednesday night at 10:59 p.m., part of the tri-weekly televised Powerball game held every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday. The third-prize win is awarded for matching four white balls plus the red Power Ball.
The New York Lottery announced the win Thursday, but the identity of the ticket-holder has not yet been made public.
According to the Lottery, Powerball players select five numbers from a field of one to 69, and a separate red Power Ball from a field of one to 26. Prize levels range from $4 to the jackpot, which can reach hundreds of millions.
NY Lottery’s impact
The New York Lottery, the most profitable lottery in North America, generated $3.8 billion during the 2023–2024 fiscal year to support public education in the state.
Players are encouraged to sign the back of their tickets immediately and keep them in a secure place. Prizes of $50,000 can be claimed at regional Customer Service Centers with valid identification.
