Robbery and carjacking attempt unfolds in shopping center lot
Around 1:33 a.m. on Monday, April 14, troopers responded to a robbery at the Merchants Square shopping center located at 4405 Governor Printz Boulevard. Multiple victims were sitting in their vehicles when they were approached by three young male suspects who demanded money and belongings.
According to police, the suspects arrived in a black Chevrolet Equinox. The driver of that vehicle, later identified as Milton Geralds, appeared to record the robbery while his accomplices tried to forcibly enter the victims’ cars. A struggle occurred during which one victim sustained minor injuries.
Suspects flee scene, police locate and arrest driver
After the robbery, the three suspects fled on foot, while the driver of the Equinox entered a separate blue SUV that fled the area. Investigators later recovered the abandoned Equinox and towed it to Troop 2 as part of the investigation.
Detectives identified Geralds as the driver and arrested him on April 16 at his Claymont residence. He was charged and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on an $84,000 cash bond.
