SEAFORD, DEL. — Delaware State Police Homicide Detectives have arrested 22-year-old Jamal Riddick of Blades as the second suspect in last month’s fatal shooting at Nutter Park in Seaford that left one man dead and three others injured.
The shooting occurred on March 12 at approximately 4:24 p.m., when officers from the Seaford Police Department and Delaware State Police responded to reports of gunfire at 712 Collins Avenue. At the scene, they found 23-year-old Schweitzer Dessin suffering from gunshot wounds. He was transported to a nearby hospital, where he later died. Three additional victims, ages 19, 21, and 23, self-transported to hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries.
As a result of the investigation, 22-year-old Johnathan Dugazon was identified as a suspect and arrested by Seaford police on March 24. Detectives later identified Jamal Riddick as a second suspect in the homicide and obtained a warrant for his arrest.
On April 15, homicide detectives executed a search warrant at a residence on the 800 block of South Market Street in Blades, where Jamal Riddick was taken into custody without incident. During the search, investigators found an AR-style rifle and ammunition in a room occupied by 20-year-old Dimere Riddick, also of Blades.
Dimere Riddick, a convicted felon prohibited from possessing firearms or ammunition, was arrested and charged with felony gun offenses. Both suspects were taken into custody without incident.
