CHICAGO, ILL. — In his first public speech since leaving office, former President Joe Biden on Tuesday accused President Donald Trump and Elon Musk of undermining the federal government’s safety net programs, saying the new administration was “taking a hatchet” to Social Security.
Speaking at the national conference of Advocates, Counselors and Representatives for the Disabled, Biden warned of the rapid dismantling of core government functions under Trump’s second term, specifically targeting the administration’s approach to Social Security.
“In fewer than 100 days, this new administration has done so much damage and so much destruction,” Biden said, calling the program a “sacred promise” for more than 70 million Americans.
Though he never named Trump directly, the criticism was unmistakable as he denounced what he described as an aggressive and reckless approach to federal governance.
Biden likened the administration’s strategy to the Silicon Valley motto of “move fast and break things,” saying, “They’re certainly breaking things. They’re shooting first and aiming later.”
His remarks reflected growing Democrat party alarm over Trump’s efforts to scale back federal agencies and programs.
Trump fires back online
Just minutes after Biden’s remarks circulated, Trump responded on his Truth Social platform, calling Biden “THE WORST PRESIDENT IN THE HISTORY OF THE UNITED STATES” and blaming him for border security issues and crime. “Sorry, but it’s my job to get these killers and thugs out of here,” Trump wrote. “THAT’S WHAT I GOT ELECTED TO DO.”
Sleepy Joe Biden, THE WORST PRESIDENT IN THE HISTORY OF THE UNITED STATES, has allowed millions and millions of Criminals, many of them murderers, drug dealers, and people released from prisons and mental institutions from all around the world, to enter our Country through it’s very dangerous and ill conceived Open Border. Sorry, but it’s my job to get these killers and thugs out of here. THAT’S WHAT I GOT ELECTED TO DO. MAGA!
