GEORGETOWN, DE — A 44-year-old woman was arrested early Tuesday morning for her seventh DUI offense after a Delaware State Police trooper pulled her over for a license plate violation in Sussex County.

Routine stop leads to felony DUI arrest

A Delaware State Police trooper spotted a Chevrolet Cruze traveling eastbound on Wilson Hill Road with an improperly displayed license plate just after 3 a.m. on April 15. During the traffic stop, the trooper identified the driver as Ginger Velasquez of Georgetown and noticed signs of alcohol use.

Field sobriety tests were conducted, and Velasquez was subsequently arrested for driving under the influence. A computer check revealed six prior DUI convictions, making this her seventh offense.

Driver charged and released after processing

Velasquez was taken to Troop 4, where she was formally charged with 7th offense DUI, a felony, and a license plate violation. She was arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court 7 and released on an unsecured bond.
