WASHINGTON, D.C. — Two young boys, ages 11 and 14, have been arrested and charged with robbery after allegedly targeting a 7-Eleven store on Benning Road in Northeast DC early Monday morning.

Robbery unfolds during early morning store visit
According to police, the two suspects entered the convenience store in the 2500 block of Benning Road NE shortly before 8 a.m. A witness stated that one of the boys asked about nacho prices, purchased a sweet tea, and left the store. The other suspect remained inside.
That second boy reportedly asked a store employee for a bag before revealing a handgun and demanding money from the register. He then reached over the counter, took approximately $30 in cash, and fled the scene with the other youth.
Both suspects arrested and charged
The Metropolitan Police Department later arrested the two boys and charged them with robbery. Their identities have not been released due to their age. The investigation remains ongoing.
