COLUMBUS, OH — A man was shot late Sunday night after confronting a suspect who was allegedly breaking into his vehicle in the 3400 block of North High Street, according to the Columbus Division of Police.

Victim hospitalized after shooting from fleeing SUV

Police said they responded to the area at approximately 10:49 p.m. after receiving a report of a shooting. Officers arrived and located a male victim who had sustained a gunshot wound. He was transported to a local hospital and is listed in stable condition.

According to the victim, he saw a Black male inside his car and confronted him. The suspect then ran and entered a white SUV. As the vehicle drove away, a shot was fired from within the SUV, striking the victim.

The Columbus Division of Police released an image of the suspect and is requesting help identifying the individual. The Robbery Unit is leading the investigation. No arrests have been made at this time.
