WEST CHESTER, PA — A suspect was taken into custody Sunday afternoon following an officer-involved shooting in a residential area of South Church Street, according to the Chester County District Attorney’s Office.

Incident unfolded Sunday afternoon

According to officials, West Chester Police responded to a home in the 50th block of South Church Street around 2:50 p.m. on Sunday. During the response, shots were reportedly fired at the location. Authorities have not confirmed who fired or whether anyone was injured.

At approximately 3:55 p.m., officers took a suspect into custody without further incident. The identity of the individual has not been released.

Investigation underway

The Chester County Detectives are conducting the investigation, which is standard procedure in officer-involved shootings. The West Chester Borough Police Department is cooperating fully with the inquiry and expressed appreciation for the assistance received from investigators.
