Man gunned down in Brooklyn overnight near Broadway

BROOKLYN, NY — A 38-year-old man was shot and killed early Friday morning in Brooklyn, police said, after officers responded to a 911 call at the intersection of Pilling Street and Broadway.

Victim pronounced dead at hospital

Officers from the 83rd Precinct arrived at the scene shortly after the emergency call came in at approximately 1:19 a.m. They discovered the male victim with a single gunshot wound to the abdomen, police said.

Emergency medical services transported the man to One Brooklyn Health-Brookdale University Hospital Medical Center. Despite efforts to save him, he was pronounced dead a short time later.

No arrests and identity not yet released

Police have not released the identity of the deceased, pending notification of family. As of Friday morning, no arrests have been made in connection with the shooting.

The motive behind the shooting remains unclear, and detectives are continuing to canvass the area for witnesses and surveillance footage.
