BENSALEM, PA — The Bensalem Township Police Department has launched a new crackdown on illegal ATV and dirt bike riding by deploying all-terrain vehicles and surveillance technology to seize vehicles and cite offenders, regardless of age.
The initiative, which began earlier Monday, includes targeted patrols by the department’s Motor Patrol Unit across several areas including Grove Avenue, Tremont Avenue, Eddington, Dinosaur Lake, and Ramblers Field. Police are enforcing a zero-tolerance policy, warning that any individual caught violating Pennsylvania traffic laws will face immediate vehicle seizure and citations.
Key Points
- Bensalem Police have launched ATV patrols targeting illegal riding in multiple township areas.
- Offenders will face vehicle seizure and citations, regardless of age.
- Parents will be held financially responsible for violations committed by their children.

Bensalem Police stated the operation will occur on various days and at unscheduled times to cover more ground and deter activity. The enforcement will be aided by police ATVs, drones, and other technology to monitor and respond to violations.
“PARENTS: You will be responsible for your children’s actions, including paying all fines,” the department stated on Facebook. “It would benefit you to talk with your kids and let them know that riding on roadways and private property is against the law.”

The announcement signals an escalation in the township’s efforts to combat a rising trend of off-road vehicles being operated on public roads and private land, often without permission or regard for safety regulations.
Township ramps up enforcement strategy
Authorities emphasized that there will be no exceptions based on age and that adults and minors alike will be subject to citations. The department urged community cooperation to reduce these incidents and protect property owners from unlawful use of their land.
Police officials said they will continue monitoring key areas and will adjust their operations as needed based on reports from the public and observed activity levels.
