ALBANY, N.Y. — Three Powerball players across New York hit it big on Saturday, each winning $50,000 in the April 12 drawing after purchasing third-prize tickets in Central Islip, Oswego, and Rochester.
Key Points
- Three third-prize Powerball tickets worth $50,000 each were sold on April 12
- Winning tickets were sold in Central Islip, Oswego, and Rochester
- Powerball drawings are held every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday at 10:59 p.m.
Winners strike in Long Island, Central New York, and the Finger Lakes
The winning tickets were purchased at BP 205 on Lowell Avenue in Central Islip, Walmart Supercenter on State Route 104 in Oswego, and Wegmans on Lyell Avenue in Rochester. Each matched four numbers plus the red Powerball to claim the third-tier $50,000 prize.
Powerball numbers are drawn from a field of 1 to 69, with the red Powerball selected from a separate field of 1 to 26. Matching four numbers and the Powerball is the game’s third-highest prize level.
One drawing, three winners statewide
While no jackpot-winning ticket was sold for the April 12 drawing, the three $50,000 winners continue the trend of New Yorkers scoring big across the state. All Powerball prizes must be claimed within one year of the drawing date.
Retailers who sell winning tickets may also receive bonuses based on the prize amount.
