DOVER, DE — A masked man attempted to rob a vape shop in broad daylight on Saturday but fled on foot without any stolen merchandise after the employee refused to comply, according to Delaware State Police.

Troopers responded to Smoke Beast, located at 220 Gateway South Boulevard, at approximately 2:06 p.m. following a report of an attempted robbery. Investigators said the suspect had entered the store earlier in the day and returned later with a handgun, pointing it at the employee while demanding merchandise.

The employee did not hand over any items, and the suspect ultimately fled the store on foot in a northern direction. No injuries were reported, and nothing was taken from the business.

Search underway for armed suspect

The suspect is described as a light-skinned Black male who was wearing dark clothing, a mask, and gloves. Authorities said he remains at large and should be considered armed.

Delaware State Police Troop 3 Criminal Investigations Unit is handling the case. Detectives are asking for help identifying the suspect and urge anyone with information to contact Detective M. Williams at (302) 698-8502.
