BELTSVILLE, Md. — A quick stop for a drink turned into a $50,000 jackpot for a Lanham man who played the Maryland Lottery’s FAST PLAY Lightning Cash game after work last Friday.

The winner, a roofing specialist, was wrapping up his shift when he visited the 7-Eleven at 11350 Baltimore Avenue. While inside, he picked up a few FAST PLAY Lightning Cash tickets. After scanning them, one displayed a congratulatory message for a $50,000 prize.

He said he was speechless and handed the ticket to the cashier for confirmation. The ticket revealed 22 lightning bolts — enough to secure the game’s top payout.
