PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, Va. — A road rage dispute turned violent in Manassas on Wednesday afternoon when a driver opened fire at an intersection, striking a 36-year-old man and prompting a police search for a light-colored sedan carrying two suspects.
The Prince William County Police Department said officers were called to Dumfries Road near Walton Drive after receiving reports of a shooting linked to a road rage incident.
The victim told investigators he was driving north on Dumfries Road when a confrontation began with another vehicle. When both vehicles stopped at the intersection, the situation escalated and the opposing driver fired multiple shots.
Police said the man and his vehicle were struck by the gunfire. Despite his injuries, the man was able to drive himself to a hospital, where he contacted authorities. No other injuries were reported.
The suspect vehicle is described as a light-colored sedan with two people inside. As of Thursday, no arrests had been made and police continued searching for those involved.
Authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward as the investigation remains active.
