WASHINGTON, DC – A 17-year-old boy has died from injuries sustained in a February shooting in Northeast Washington, prompting a homicide investigation, police confirmed Wednesday.
The shooting occurred on Sunday, February 2, 2025, around 9:11 p.m. in the 1400 block of Florida Avenue, NE. Officers from the Fifth District responded to a report of gunfire and found a juvenile male suffering from a gunshot wound.
The victim was transported by DC Fire and EMS to a nearby hospital, where he remained under medical care for several weeks. On Monday, March 17, he was pronounced dead despite all life-saving efforts.
The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner later ruled the cause of death as a gunshot wound and the manner of death as a homicide.
The victim has been identified as 17-year-old Trey’zuan Charles of Northeast DC.
