LINDEN, N.J. — The Linden Police Department on Tuesday announced the retirement of Sgt. Antonio Lacosta, marking the end of a 17-year law enforcement career that began in Paterson and concluded with more than a decade of service in Linden.
Lacosta, a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, began his policing career in 2007 with the Paterson Police Department before transferring to Linden in 2011. He remained with the department until his official retirement this week.
“Congratulations to Sgt. Antonio Lacosta, who officially retired yesterday,” the department stated in a Facebook post. “Tony is a USMC veteran who began his career with the Paterson Police Department in 2007. Tony joined the Linden Police Department in 2011 and served with distinction for the remainder of his career.”

During his 14-year tenure with the Linden Police Department, Lacosta held various roles, culminating in his promotion to sergeant. The department credited his leadership and military background as key components of his public service record.
