TRENTON, N.J. — McDonald’s is the most searched fast-food chain in New Jersey, according to new research analyzing Google search data over the past year, despite a nationwide dip in performance this February.
The study, conducted by commercial furniture manufacturer Restaurant Furniture, ranked the country’s top fast-food chains by monthly Google searches, revealing McDonald’s leads in 22 states, including New Jersey, Arizona, and Maryland.
McDonald’s, with 14,879,233 average monthly searches nationwide, remains at the top of the list. This comes even as the company reported a 1.4% drop in U.S. performance in February, its steepest monthly decline since 2020.
Domino’s came in second place with 11,638,991 monthly searches. The pizza chain is the most searched in 14 states, including Louisiana, Vermont, and Wyoming. Chick-Fil-A followed in third place, recording 11,239,300 searches and leading in states like Georgia and South Carolina.
New Jersey’s fast-food interest mirrors national trends, where McDonald’s continues to dominate despite market fluctuations. The company operates 13,515 U.S. locations offering items like cheeseburgers, fries, and apple pies.
Domino’s, with 6,708 stores across the U.S., has built a solid following, particularly in pizza-preferred regions. Chick-Fil-A, with 2,909 locations, trails close behind, bolstered by its fried chicken menu.
A spokesperson for Restaurant Furniture said the findings suggest “an appetite for this type of cuisine,” pointing out pizza’s surprising dominance in certain states over burgers and coffee.
