WASHINGTON, DC — Authorities are searching for a teenage suspect after an armed carjacking took place Friday evening in Southeast DC, according to the Metropolitan Police Department.
The incident occurred shortly before 8:30 p.m. in the 1100 block of New Jersey Avenue, Southeast. Police said the suspect approached a victim with a handgun and stole their vehicle before fleeing the scene.
A lookout was issued for a Black male, approximately 17 to 18 years old, around 5 feet 7 inches tall, wearing all black clothing. The suspect was last seen in the area of 1st and I Street, Northwest.
The stolen vehicle has since been recovered. No injuries were reported during the incident, and no arrests have been made.
Anyone with information is urged not to approach the suspect but to call police at (202) 727-9099 or text tips to 50411. A reward of up to $25,000 is being offered for information that leads to an arrest and conviction.
