WASHINGTON, DC — A months-long investigation into a deadly 2024 shooting has led to the arrest of an 18-year-old suspect now charged with First Degree Murder while Armed, police announced Thursday.
The case stems from a September 15 shooting that occurred around 2:43 a.m. inside a residence on the 2300 block of Marion Barry Avenue, Southeast. Officers arrived to find an adult male victim unconscious with a gunshot wound. DC Fire and EMS pronounced the victim dead at the scene.
The victim was identified as 36-year-old David Washington of Southeast, D.C. Authorities said the fatal shooting took place inside a private residence.
On Wednesday, Elijah Washington, also of Southeast, was arrested pursuant to a DC Superior Court warrant. He has been charged as an adult under Title 16 with First Degree Murder while Armed–Felony Murder. Officials confirmed he was a juvenile at the time of the homicide.
The investigation remains active, and authorities continue to gather information related to the fatal shooting.
