DAYTON, OH — A lucky Ohio Lottery player claimed a $1 million top prize after purchasing a VIP Millions scratch-off ticket at a Shell station in Dayton, officials announced Wednesday.
The winning ticket was sold at Whipp Road Shell, located at 6001 Far Hills Avenue. The player chose the cash option of $500,000 and will take home approximately $360,000 after mandatory state and federal tax withholdings.
VIP Millions is a $50 scratch-off game that offers a top prize of $40,000 a year for 25 years. As of March 26, 42 top prizes remain in the game.
The winner, who has not been publicly identified, said they plan to use the money to buy a home and purchase a car for each of their children.
The Ohio Lottery continues to contribute to public education, with more than $33 billion provided since 1974.
