BALTIMORE, MD — A Charles County woman is celebrating a $73,767 win after placing a successful Racetrax Superfecta bet using a lucky set of numbers previously played by her husband, Maryland Lottery officials confirmed.
The win occurred on March 20 after she stopped at Sunnybrook Tavern in Fort Washington on her way home from work. She played horses 8, 12, 4, and 2 for 20 drawings with the bonus feature — the same combination her husband used to win a $14,847 prize in 2022.
Rather than watching the animated races live, the player waited until the next morning to check her ticket using the Maryland Lottery app. That’s when she saw the winning message and confetti appear, confirming her five-figure prize.
She quickly called her husband, who initially thought she was joking until she sent a photo of the app message. The couple later visited Lottery headquarters together to claim the prize.
The Washington Metro employee plans to use her winnings to pay bills and take a trip.
Sunnybrook Tavern, located at 9001 Livingston Road in Prince George’s County, will receive a $737.67 bonus from the Maryland Lottery for selling the winning ticket.
