TRENTON, N.J. — New Jersey gubernatorial candidate Jack Ciattarelli said he is optimistic about his chances in the Republican primary and November election, citing a recent conversation with President Donald Trump last Friday at his Bedminster residence, pointing to a continued shift in voter registration numbers as signs of growing GOP momentum.
Speaking in an interview with Fox & Friends, Ciattarelli emphasized the significance of Republican voter gains and Trump’s 2024 victory as evidence of public dissatisfaction with Democratic leadership. “For 40 months in a row, new Republican registrations have outpaced Democratic registrations because people have had it,” Ciattarelli said during the segment.
Key Points
- Ciattarelli spoke with Trump and says momentum from the president’s 2024 win will help the GOP in 2025.
- Republican registrations have exceeded Democratic sign-ups for 40 consecutive months, Ciattarelli noted.
- He appeared on Fox & Friends to outline his strategy for winning the primary and general election.
Ciattarelli, who previously ran for governor in 2021, did not provide specific details of his discussion with Trump but framed it as a constructive dialogue centered on unifying the Republican base and advancing conservative policy goals.

He expressed confidence that aligning with Trump’s platform will strengthen his position heading into the 2025 race.
The Republican candidate encouraged supporters to engage in the campaign, using Trump’s success as a rallying point.
“President Donald J. Trump’s success in 2024 proved exactly that and we will build off his momentum in 2025,” Ciattarelli said.
More than 2 million people in New Jersey voted for Donald Trump last election day, so there’s a lot of energy around him and his policies.
I was with him last Friday night, and I thanked him for what he’s doing to make the country safe again, and in particular, what he’s done here in New Jersey. Put a temporary halt on wind farms off the Jersey shore. That’s a winner here in New Jersey, and certainly beating up on New York Democrats over the congestion pricing plan.
Nobody in North Jersey likes that plan. So thank him for those two issues. But I’m going to make this all about New Jersey, and that’s something else the President and I talked about. There’s a whole lot of issues on which the democratically-controlled legislature has failed us.
