Maryland lottery ticket snags massive Powerball win

BALTIMORE, MD — A Powerball ticket sold in Harford County has won a $500,000 prize in Monday night’s Double Play drawing, Maryland Lottery officials confirmed Tuesday.

The second-tier winning ticket was purchased at Carsins Run Liquors, located at 3501 Churchville Road in Aberdeen. The winning Double Play numbers from the March 24 drawing were 02, 54, 59, 65, and 68, with the Powerball number 03.

This marks Maryland’s first second-tier Double Play winner of the year. In total, 1,822 players in the state claimed Double Play prizes ranging from $7 to $500,000 in Monday’s drawing.

Double Play is an add-on feature that allows players to use the same Powerball numbers for a second drawing, held 30 minutes after the main draw, with top prizes reaching up to $10 million. The feature costs an additional $1.

While no one won the Powerball jackpot, second-tier, or third-tier prizes in the main drawing, over 12,000 Marylanders claimed regular Powerball winnings between $4 and $200, depending on play options.

The Powerball jackpot now rises to an estimated annuity of $484 million, with a $228.1 million cash option available for the March 26 drawing.
