SCHENECTADY, NY — A tragic hit-and-run claimed the life of an 8-year-old boy Wednesday evening, prompting an ongoing investigation by local authorities.
At approximately 7:38 p.m. on March 19, Schenectady Police responded to reports of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle at the intersection of Chrisler Avenue and Crane Street. Upon arrival, officers discovered the young victim unresponsive. He was transported to Ellis Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
The vehicle involved fled the scene before police arrived. Officers located a suspected vehicle connected to the incident in the Woodlawn area, and a person of interest is currently being interviewed.
