QUEENS, N.Y. — An off-duty NYPD detective was arrested late Thursday night in southeast Queens and hit with a slew of criminal charges, including official misconduct and driving violations, police said.

Eric Blake, a 46-year-old NYPD police detective, was taken into custody at approximately 10:45 p.m. within the confines of the 116th Precinct, which covers neighborhoods including Rosedale and Laurelton.

According to police, Blake faces charges of official misconduct and offering a false instrument for filing in the second degree. Authorities also charged him with aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, operating without insurance, driving an unregistered vehicle, and possessing a facsimile license plate.

The NYPD has not released further details regarding the circumstances of the arrest or the events leading up to the charges.

As of Friday, Blake’s duty status with the department had not been updated publicly.

The Internal Affairs Bureau is expected to investigate the incident in accordance with NYPD protocol for officer arrests.
