Stafford, VA – Two juveniles were detained in South Stafford following an altercation that led to the discovery of stolen firearms. On Thursday at approximately 6:06 p.m., Sergeant J.D. Hurt, along with Deputies S.C. Steinway, M.A. Holub, and S.T. Myers, responded to Ridgemore Street due to a reported fight in progress.
Upon arrival, law enforcement officers observed the suspects fleeing into nearby woods but managed to detain two 17-year-olds shortly thereafter. The juveniles had been consuming Twisted Tea and verbally provoking each other, which escalated into a physical conflict. During the investigation, authorities suspected the involvement of firearms and initiated a search.
Deputy Myers deployed his K-9 partner, Gunner, to assist in locating any hidden weapons. Gunner successfully tracked and found a handgun buried under leaves. Continuing the search, Gunner led deputies to another concealed firearm. Both firearms had altered serial numbers and were confirmed stolen.
The juveniles were charged with multiple counts including disorderly conduct, underage alcohol possession, and possession of stolen firearms. They were also charged with altering a firearm’s serial number.
