BRIGHTON, MA — U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has arrested Sostenes Perez-Lopez, 59, an illegal Guatemalan national charged with two counts of indecent assault and battery on a child in Massachusetts.
Perez was taken into custody on Feb. 18 by ICE’s Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) in Boston. He had previously been arrested and arraigned on Nov. 29, 2024, and was ordered held at the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Department with bail set at $8,000.
ICE lodged an immigration detainer against Perez with the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Department on Nov. 28, 2024, but the Boston Municipal Court ignored the request and released him on bail Dec. 12, 2024, with GPS monitoring.
Perez, who entered the U.S. illegally at an unknown time and location, was served with a notice to appear before a Department of Justice immigration judge following his arrest. He remains in ICE custody.
