STAFFORD, Va. — A 27-year-old Fredericksburg woman was arrested Friday night after allegedly assaulting two people during a child custody exchange in the parking lot of the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded to the Ford T. Humphrey Public Safety Building at 7:06 p.m. on March 14, where they found two victims who had been assaulted. Deputy C.A. Sharp investigated the incident and took the suspect into custody.
The woman was charged with two counts of assault and battery and transported to the Rappahannock Regional Jail. She was held on a $1,000 bond.
The incident occurred in the designated Safe Exchange Zone, a monitored area outside the sheriff’s office intended to provide a secure space for custody exchanges and online purchase transactions.
Authorities did not release the names of those involved, and no further details on injuries or the circumstances leading to the altercation were provided.
The Stafford County Sheriff’s Office reminds residents that the Safe Exchange Zone is available for peaceful and secure transactions.
