PHILADELPHIA, PA – A Philadelphia jury has convicted two individuals in connection with the 2020 hit-and-run death of 32-year-old cyclist William “Will” Lindsay and an attempted cover-up, the District Attorney’s Office announced.
Ranisha Hackley, 34, was found guilty of charges including homicide by vehicle, involuntary manslaughter, and tampering with evidence. Her boyfriend, Hakeem Brown, 36, was convicted of tampering with evidence and conspiracy for his role in concealing the crime.
Lindsay was struck and killed on July 12, 2020, while riding in a bike lane on Ridge Avenue. Hackley, who was driving a white Chevrolet Camaro owned by Brown, fled the scene. Investigators later recovered the vehicle at a repair shop, where surveillance footage showed Brown dropping it off. Forensic testing confirmed Lindsay’s DNA on the windshield.
Hackley was sentenced to 7.5 to 15 years in prison, while Brown received 1 to 2 years for helping to hide the vehicle and mislead authorities.
Prosecutors credited forensic evidence and surveillance footage for securing the convictions.
