ALEXANDRIA, VA – U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has arrested Roxana Beatriz Ayala-Duran, a 41-year-old Salvadoran national, who was previously convicted of assault in Virginia and had been ordered removed from the United States, officials announced.
Ayala-Duran was taken into custody in Alexandria on Feb. 25 during a joint operation with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). ICE officials emphasized that her arrest aligns with efforts to remove individuals who pose a threat to public safety.
“The apprehension of Roxana Beatriz Ayala-Duran shows ICE is dedicated to arresting and removing illegal alien offenders from our Washington, D.C. and Virginia communities,” said ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations Washington, D.C. Field Office Director Russ Hott.
Ayala-Duran originally entered the U.S. illegally near Douglas, Arizona, in 2004 and was ordered removed by an immigration judge that December. Despite this, she remained in the country and was later convicted of assault in Alexandria in August 2020, though her 30-day sentence was fully suspended.
ICE officials have not provided details on when Ayala-Duran will be removed but reiterated their commitment to enforcing immigration laws and prioritizing public safety.
