JAMES CITY COUNTY, Va. — A Mega Millions ticket worth $3 million was sold at a 7-Eleven in James City County, just outside Williamsburg.
The ticket matched the first five numbers in the March 7 drawing—8, 20, 48, 58, and 60—missing only the Mega Ball number 7. Normally a $1 million prize, the ticket’s value tripled to $3 million because the purchaser added the Megaplier option.
This was the only ticket in Virginia to match five numbers and one of just two nationwide. No ticket matched all six numbers, pushing the jackpot for the March 11 drawing to an estimated $256 million.
The winner has 180 days to claim the prize and is advised to sign the ticket immediately to establish ownership.
