BOSTON — A 34-year-old Dorchester man was arrested on multiple charges, including cocaine trafficking, following a car crash in South Boston on Monday evening.
At approximately 5:21 p.m., officers from District C-6 responded to a motor vehicle accident at M Street and East First Street. Upon arrival, they found Boston Fire Department personnel on the scene and spoke with the driver of a Mazda, who reported being struck by a Chevy.
The Chevy’s driver, identified as Andre Dos Santos, became aggressive and caused a disturbance, drawing a crowd. Officers noted signs of intoxication, including slurred speech, glassy eyes, and the smell of alcohol on his breath.
During a search of Dos Santos, officers recovered a plastic bag containing 18 smaller bags of a white powdery substance believed to be cocaine. A passenger in his vehicle was also found with a small vial containing a suspected bag of cocaine. Authorities also seized an undisclosed amount of cash in various denominations.
Dos Santos was taken into custody and faces charges of operating under the influence, disorderly conduct, and cocaine trafficking (18–36 grams). He is expected to be arraigned in South Boston District Court.
Authorities say the arrest highlights ongoing efforts to crack down on drug-related offenses in the city.
