Toms River Mourns Loss of Beloved High School Principal

TOMS RIVER, N.J. — Raymond James Ryan, a longtime principal of Toms River High School North and a respected community leader, died Thursday at the age of 83.

Ryan, who served as principal for decades, was a well-known figure in the Toms River community. His leadership at the school left a lasting impression on generations of students and faculty. The school honored his contributions by naming its baseball field after him.

Following his retirement in 1998, Ryan spent time with his wife, Judy, and their family, splitting time between Toms River and St. Augustine, Florida. He was often seen walking the beaches, playing golf, and enjoying time with loved ones.

Ryan was predeceased by his wife, Judy, and his eldest son, Gary. He is survived by his children, Jeffrey and Stacey, as well as six grandchildren.

A memorial gathering is scheduled for March 22 at Timothy E. Ryan Home for Funerals in Toms River.
