New Jersey man sentenced to prison for secretly recording minor

MOUNT HOLLY, N.J. — A Burlington City man has been sentenced to four years in state prison for secretly recording an underage female by placing a hidden camera in a bathroom, the Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office announced.

Joseph J. Stevenson, 35, pleaded guilty last year to second-degree endangering the welfare of a child. Superior Court Judge Aimee Belgard handed down the sentence in Mount Holly.

The investigation began after the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children alerted authorities to Stevenson’s online activities. Additional details are being withheld to protect the victim’s identity.

The case was investigated by the Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office with assistance from U.S. Homeland Security Investigations. Stevenson was prosecuted by Assistant Prosecutor Steve Eife, supervisor of the Special Victims Unit.
