TRENTON, N.J. — A big announcement in the race for New Jersey governor in 2025 has come out for the Democrat.
U.S. Rep. Sarah McBride of Delaware has endorsed Rep. Mikie Sherrill in her bid for New Jersey governor.
McBride, the first openly transgender member of Congress, praised Sherrill’s leadership and commitment to key Democratic priorities.
McBride is a biological man, who made the transition from Tim to Sarah at the age of 21.
“Mikie is in this race because she has a proven ability to deliver for New Jersey,” McBride said in a statement.
McBride highlighted Sherrill’s focus on lowering costs, expanding opportunities for families, and protecting rights and freedoms.
“As governor, she won’t be distracted by the noise,” McBride said.
Sherrill responded by calling McBride a “courageous leader” and said the congressperson was honored to have their support.
The endorsement adds to Sherrill’s growing list of backers as she seeks to solidify her position in the Democratic primary.
