TRENTON, N.J. — Republican gubernatorial candidate Bill Spadea has received the endorsement of Anne Fundner, a prominent advocate for tougher border policies and a vocal opponent of opioid trafficking.
Fundner, who lost her 15-year-old son Weston to fentanyl, praised Spadea’s commitment to law enforcement and his stance on illegal immigration, citing his past work with addiction and recovery centers.
“His resolve to keep our communities safe and his genuine care for New Jersey make him the leader we deserve,” Fundner said.
She contrasted her support for Spadea with criticism of GOP rival Jack Ciattarelli, alleging his publishing company profited from promoting opioids.
“It’s incredibly disheartening to think of the role his messaging played in so many struggles,” she said.
Fundner, who testified before Congress and spoke at the 2024 Republican Convention about the impact of drug trafficking, pledged to help Spadea in his campaign.
