GAITHERSBURG, Md. — A Bladensburg man has been arrested and charged with second-degree murder and first-degree child abuse in connection with the death of a 7-month-old infant, Montgomery County police announced Wednesday.
Terron Christopher Matasaran, 36, was taken into custody on March 4 by officers from the Montgomery County Police Task Force and the U.S. Marshals Capital Regional Fugitive Task Force at his place of employment in Bladensburg. He is being held without bond at the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit.
The case stems from an incident on September 23, 2024, when first responders were called to the 11600 block of Stewart Lane for an unresponsive baby boy. Matasaran, a family friend babysitting the child, told authorities the infant had fallen. However, an autopsy later revealed a head injury and rib fractures, and the death was ruled a homicide.
Homicide detectives obtained an arrest warrant on March 3, leading to Matasaran’s capture the following day.
