LAVALE, Md. — A routine traffic stop in Allegany County led to the arrest of a Pennsylvania man wanted on an outstanding warrant and the recovery of a stolen vehicle, authorities said.
At approximately 10:50 p.m. Monday, a deputy with the Allegany County Sheriff’s Office pulled over a vehicle on National Highway in LaVale. Deputies discovered that the driver, David L. Russian of Central City, Pennsylvania, had an active arrest warrant from Pennsylvania. The vehicle had been reported stolen out of Somerset, Pennsylvania.
During a search, deputies found suspected methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.
Russian was charged with unlawful taking of a motor vehicle, unauthorized removal of a motor vehicle, theft, possession of a controlled dangerous substance other than cannabis, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was transported to the Allegany County Detention Center and is awaiting an initial court appearance.
