NEW YORK — An off-duty New York City Department of Education employee was arrested Saturday evening in Midtown Manhattan on charges of grand larceny and possession of forged instruments, police said.

Lavar Morris, 33, was taken into custody at approximately 5:46 p.m. within the confines of the Midtown North Precinct.

Morris faces charges of grand larceny and three counts of possession of a forged instrument. Authorities did not provide further details on the alleged offenses.

The investigation is ongoing.
