Clarkstown police sergeant retires after 26 years in law enforcement

Sergeant Scott Rios is retiring from the Clarkstown Police Department after more than 26 years in law enforcement, officials announced Wednesday.

Rios began his career with the New York City Police Department in August 1998 before joining Clarkstown PD in 2001. He was promoted to sergeant in 2010 and played a key role in training new officers, serving as an instructor at the Police Academy and coordinating the Field Training Officer (FTO) program.

In addition to his leadership within the department, Rios was an active Clarkstown PBA board member, further demonstrating his commitment to his colleagues and the community.

“We thank Sergeant Rios for his years of service to the Clarkstown community and wish him the best in his retirement,” the department said in a statement.

Rios leaves behind a legacy of mentorship and professionalism after more than two decades of service.
