Newark police seek suspects in violent carjacking

NEWARK, N.J. — Authorities are asking for the public’s help in identifying two masked suspects who assaulted a man and stole his car in an early morning carjacking earlier this month.

The incident occurred at approximately 2:00 a.m. on February 11 in the 400 block of Irvine Turner Boulevard. Police said the victim was leaving his residence when two individuals dressed in black clothing and ski masks attacked him, went through his pockets, and stole his car keys and vehicle—a 2018 grey Chevrolet Malibu.

Officers later recovered the vehicle in Jersey City on February 16, but the suspects remain at large.

Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda Sr. is urging anyone with information to contact the Newark Police Division’s 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477). All tips are confidential and may lead to a reward.
