WASHINGTON, D.C. – A new Harvard CAPS-Harris poll finds broad national support for former President Donald J. Trump’s policy agenda, with majorities backing his stance on immigration, government spending, and foreign policy.

The poll, conducted online from February 19-20, 2025, surveyed 2,443 registered voters and found that 81% support deporting criminal illegal immigrants, while 76% favor increased border security. Additionally, 69% support restricting men from competing in women’s sports, and 68% favor a government declaration recognizing only two genders.

On economic policy, 59% support cutting previously approved government spending, while 61% back reciprocal tariffs on foreign goods. More than half of respondents also favor reopening offshore drilling.

Trump’s job approval rating remains high, with nearly six-in-ten voters saying he is doing a better job than President Biden. Nearly half of voters describe the U.S. economy as “strong” under Trump’s leadership, the highest level since 2021, and a growing number believe his policies will improve their financial situation.

The poll also found strong backing for Trump’s government reform efforts, with 77% favoring a full audit of federal spending and 72% supporting a government agency focused on efficiency.

The survey’s margin of error is ±2.0 percentage points at a 95% confidence level. It was supervised by Mark Penn (The Harris Poll), Dritan Nesho (HarrisX), and Harvard Professor Stephen Ansolabehere.

The results highlight continued national support for Trump’s agenda and a growing preference for his leadership over the Biden administration.
